Homemade Taco Seasoning

Recent studies have shown that Americans are now 50% salt. Well, maybe not quite, but we really do get too much sodium because it seems easier to open a packet than to mix our own seasonings. If you really want to reduce sodium in your diet, go natural. This taco seasoning mix is delicious!

Taco Seasoning

1 TBSP chili powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp paprika
1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp sea salt
1 tsp pepper

Mix thoroughly. Makes enough for seasoning 1 lb ground beef or other taco meat. After browning meat, add seasoning, about 1/4 to 1/3 cup water and simmer until liquid is absorbed.
